Louisiana Tech University offers an Adult Education Graduate Certificate for students who have already acquired a Master’s Degree in Education and a teacher certification. Students enrolled in the certificate program must register for certificate completion at the beginning of the quarter when certificate requirements are completed.
The Adult Education Graduate Certificate Program consists of 15 credit hours. Courses required to earn this certificate include Introduction to Adult Education, Reading in Adult Education, Materials & Methods in Adult Education, Human Exceptionalities: Seminar, and a Practicum. The practicum is required unless a student already has three years of teaching experience in the Adult Education field. If an enrolled student meets the requirement to have the practicum waived, then they must complete one of the following courses; Keyboarding/Computer Application in the Classroom, Technology Leadership to Support Standards-Based Teaching and Learning, or Design and Development of Multimedia Instructional Units.
Any courses completed at another institution may not be transferred into the Adult Education Graduate Certificate Program. All courses for this program are available online and can potentially be finished in one semester. This online learning environment allows students to have a flexible experience and keep their employment status while working towards their certificate.
Students must have a Master's Degree in Education and hold teacher certification.
