Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction / English as a Second Language

Program Details

The online Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in English as a Second Language (ESL) program uses engaging course content to develop the knowledge and skills to effectively tackle two challenges: helping English language-learners master English and helping them succeed in academic courses taught in English.  Students gain a foundation in linguistics and the influences on language learning, as well as training techniques for strengthening reading, writing, and listening skills for English language learners.

Requirements

  • At least one year of professional work experience as verified by a professional résumé
  • A valid teaching certificate OR a letter of recommendation/support from current principal or supervisor
  • Graduate degree from an accredited university OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, with a minimum 2.75 overall GPA or minimum 2.75 GPA in last 60 semester hours of courses, OR
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, with a minimum 2.5 overall GPA or minimum 2.5 GPA in last 60 semester hours of courses, AND a minimum GRE score of 286 combined verbal and quantitative scores or 281 with a 3.5 in writing
