Program Details

The online Associate of Arts & Sciences in General Studies is a liberal arts degree from Lord Fairfax Community College.  This is a flexible program that does not require students to declare a specialized major subject field.  While some students stop upon completing this liberal arts degree, most plan to transfer to a four-year institution to earn a bachelor’s degree.  In the baccalaureate program students will develop specialized academic interests and aptitudes that go beyond this liberal arts degree.  

The curriculum provides freshman and sophomore level course work that can go towards the completion of a baccalaureate degree.  You will complete courses in such areas as:

  • English
  • Physical Education/Health
  • Humanities
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Science


  • High school graduate or 18 years or older
  • Placement test may be required
