Program Overview

Logan College of Chiropractic offers a Master of Science Degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation. This unique advanced degree option for sports injury management will provide the experience, training, and confidence that is demanded in the athletic arena. This master's degree is offered both on campus and in a hybrid online format. Amateur and professional athletes all wish to perform at their highest capabilities. To meet this demand, practitioners need the best training in sports conditioning and rehabilitation. Logan has accepted this challenge by offering the Master of Science Degree in Sports Science and Rehabilitation.

Advanced training is essential for professionals planning to work with athletes. A specialized advanced degree at the master's level will set practitioners apart from their peers. This program will also prepare graduates for opportunities in research and teaching. The facilities, faculty and the clinical/field rotations are unique to Logan College of Chiropractic/University Programs.

Logan offers the opportunity for students to work with current athletes in the St. Louis metropolitan area and outlying regions. Throughout the program, students will be able to take advantage of numerous opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary clinical settings with professional, collegiate and high school sports teams. The BIOFREEZE® Sports & Rehabilitation Center, located on Logan's campus, is specially designed to treat athletic injuries.

Students interested in working with athletes, teaching, and gaining added experience in this specialty will find that topics in this program fulfill those interests. The program can be completed in a year-around format (three 15-week terms per year), and expected completion is two and a half years. Students have a maximum of five years from the time they begin to complete the Master of Science degree. Students are required to have completed a bachelor’s degree prior to entering the program, or can earn Logan's Bachelor of Science Degree Programs in Human Biology or Life Sciences or from another accredited undergraduate university. There is no specific major required for this degree program. This program requires fifty (50) hours of coursework. This coursework will be taken over five semesters, combining classroom, lab, and clinical experience. All courses may not be offered each trimester.

Logan offers the Master of Science in Sports Science and Rehabilitation in a hybrid online format. This hybrid online format was created to attract both practicing healthcare professionals and students looking for flexibility. Logan has combined the flexibility of hybrid online learning with the practical hands-on training in laboratory and on the field settings. The new hybrid online learning option for performance enhancement and sports injury management will provide the experience, training and confidence now demanded in the athletic arena.

    Requirements

    Students must have a strong science foundation including 6 hours of biological sciences, 6 hours of chemistry, 3 hours of physics, 3 hours of physics/kinesiology/exercise science/biomechanics/statistics, and 3 hours in college-level math.
