Program Overview

Long Island University's Palmer School of Library and Information Science offers an online advanced certificate that will prepare students to preserve, manage and provide access to both temporary and permanent records of corporations, libraries, universities and non-profit organizations. Courses are taught by internationally renowned faculty with extensive professional and scholarly experience in archives, electronic records, preservation, imaging systems and technology, and library science.

This post-master's program offers all 18 credits fully online. However, students may also elect to take all credits in a traditional classroom setting at one of two LIU locations in the New York-metropolitan area, or take a combination of both online and in-class courses. The Palmer School's campus locations include LIU Post in Brookville, N.Y. and the Bobst Library at NYU in Manhattan.

This program has two required courses: LIS 520 Records Management and LIS 714 Archives and Manuscripts. Students then choose three elective courses that address their individual interests. The final class is an internship.
