Program Overview

The Pre-Forensic Science Associate in Science is a transferable degree program offered by Lincoln Land Community College in Illinois. This degree in intended for students who wish to matriculate to a four-year college or university and who will use this degree as a foundation for further pursuits in the field either professionally or academically. Forensic Science is the student of collection, identification, preservation, and transportation of evidence found at crime scenes. Like most associate degree at Lincoln Land Community College, this program requires the student to take and pass general education courses. These courses include EGL 111 and 102 Composition I and II, SPE 101 Public Speaking Fundamentals, and POS 101 or 201 Introduction to American Politics or State and Local Government.

Students are also required to take other general education classes such as credits in the Humanities and Social Sciences. Recommended courses that meet requirements in other subject areas are BIO 101 General Biology, CHE 101 General Chemistry, MAT 141 Introductory Statistics, and MAT 242 Mathematical Probability and Statistics.

The recommended classes in Law Enforcement that meet the requirements of the major are LEA 101 Introduction to Criminal Justice, LEA 110 Fundamentals of Investigation, LEA 201 Substantive Criminal Law, and LEA 209 Introduction to Forensic Science. The suggested supportive courses for this major are CHE 102 General Chemistry II, PHY 101 General Physics I, and PHY 102 General Physics II.

The recommended time frame for completion of this degree is over the course of four semesters. Four to six courses each semester should be taken to fulfill requirements in this time span.
