Program Overview

The Certificate of Completion in Leadership is an occupational program offered by Lincoln Land Community College in Illinois. This program is intended for individuals who wish to advance their careers by gaining an official certificate of completion. A certificate of completion is a form of recognition awarded by a community college for meeting minimum occupational course requirements. Since this is not a degree, non-related courses such as general education classes are not required. The five required courses should be taken in the course of two semesters.

The five courses required for completion of this program are as follows: BUS 121 Introduction to Business Organization, BUS 204 Management, BUS 230 Leadership, BUS 231 Organizational Behavior, and CAS 121 Computer Systems and Business Applications. These classes all relate to business; skills and knowledge acquired in these classes are useful to business leaders. The Leadership class teaches students what leadership is, the importance of it, and the different types of leaders. Concepts such as leaders’ traits, the importance of vision, leadership authority, employee empowerment, burn-out, diversity, and performance evaluations are all discussed in this class.

This online certification program from Lincoln Land Community College is a practical and convenient solution to students who lack the ability to access traditional education opportunities. Because of changes in federal guidelines prospective students of Lincoln Land Community College should be aware that only permanent residents of Illinois are able enroll in this program. Some exceptions can be made.
