The Associate in Applied Science in Business from Lincoln Land Community College is an occupational program intended for students who wish to acquire skills related to business. Specializations in leadership, e-business, management, real estate, and entrepreneurship are available. Required courses in the applied science program as well as other requirements must be completed before this program is finished.
Students must complete 16 to 18 credit hours in General Education. These courses include COM 104 and 105 Career Communications I and II or EGL 111 or 102 Composition I and II and POS 201 State and Local Government or POS 101 Introduction to American Politics. Classes in Lab Science and Mathematics are also required.
The 29 to 30 credits including specialization requirements in specific business courses include: BUS 101 Business Law I, BUS 121 Introduction to Business Organizations, BUS 202 Principles of Marketing, BUS 204 Management, BUS 230 Leadership, and BUS 231 Organizational Behavior.
Required courses that support the business program include: ACC 100 Introduction to Accounting or 103 Financial Accounting, CAS 121 Computer Systems and Business Applications, ECO 110 Elements of Economics or 131 Principles of Economics (Microeconomics) or 132 Principles of Economics II, and SPE 101 Public Speaking. The specialization requirement for this major is comprised of 12 credits.
The recommended time frame for completion of this degree is over the course of four semesters. Students should take five to six courses each semester to fulfill requirements in this time span.
This mostly online degree program from Lincoln Land Community College is a practical and convenient solution to students who lack the ability to access traditional education opportunities. Because of changes in federal guidelines prospective students of Lincoln Land Community College should be aware that only permanent residents of Illinois are able enroll in this program. Some exceptions can be made.
