Program Overview

The Associate in Science with a focus on Business Administration from Lincoln Land Community College program equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to either go into the business administration career field or matriculate into a senior institution or bachelor degree program. Students who plan on advancing into a four-year college or university should verify the requirements needed for those senior-programs, which may vary from school to school. A student who plans on teaching business in a high school or other secondary setting must take and pass the Test of Academic Proficiency before they move onto a senior institution.

Like most associate degree at Lincoln Land Community College, this program requires the student to take and pass general education courses. These courses include EGL 111 and 102 Composition I and II, SPE 101 Public Speaking Fundamentals, and POS 101 or 201 Introduction to American Politics or State and Local Government. These twelve credits serve as a foundation for a broader education. Courses in Life Science, Physical Science, Math, and Economics are also required.

The courses that are specific to this major are as follows: ACC 103 and 104 Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting, BUS 101 and 132 Business Law I and Introduction to Business Organizations, and ECO 132 Principles of Economics II (Macroeconomics). A recommended course for this major is CAS 121 Computer Systems and Business Application. It is important to note that BUS 202 and BUS 204, which are recommended electives for this program, should probably be taken when the student advances to a senior institution since occasionally these credits do not transfer.

The recommended time frame for completion of this degree is over the course of four semesters. Five to six courses each semester should be taken to fulfill requirements in this time span.

This mostly online degree program from Lincoln Land Community College is a practical and convenient solution to students who lack the ability to access traditional education opportunities.
