Liberty’s 100% online Master of Science in National Security – Homeland Security provides law enforcement professionals with the tools they need to prevent, detect, and respond to security threats in local and national contexts. Through the M.S. in National Security – Homeland Security, students will study uses of diplomacy, intelligence, and military assets to create and execute national security strategies that will contain and eliminate threats to national security while respecting the civil rights of the people they protect. Students in this program will engage with military history, essential political theory, and public policy analysis that apply to real-world conflicts. The Homeland Security area of study provides a specialized study of terrorism, counterterrorism, hazard management, and other topics of modern threat management in the public and private spheres. Students can apply these skills in public service roles in national security agencies, state and federal law enforcement, policy writing and advocacy, and the private security field. Graduates of the M.S. in National Security will be well-equipped for roles as defense program managers, state or federal law enforcement officers, immigration services officers, international or domestic terrorism analysts, secret service officers, security specialists, and higher education teaching.
