Liberty University’s 100% online Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Special Education – Early Childhood Special Education equips students with the full range of essential skills they need for licensed early childhood and special education teaching. Students in the M.A.T. in Special Education – Early Childhood Special Education will engage in advanced education studies, in-class experience in a local school, and can optionally attend on-campus intensives to gain hands-on training and critical teaching knowledge. Through this program, students will study essential advanced topics such as current trends in early childhood education, educational behavior and development, adapting curriculum for age and disabilities, creating effective learning environments, and special needs assessment and care. Students will complete the necessary practicum and student teaching requirements for in-class training that will fulfill requirements for the Virginia Department of Education. After obtaining licensure, students can apply for reciprocity in other states by meeting any additional steps for those states. The M.A.T. in Special Education – Early Childhood Education prepares students for teaching roles such as early childhood education consultants, licensed early childhood special education teachers, family support specialists, special education curriculum managers, and home-based special education services providers.
