Master of Divinity / Professional Chaplaincy: Military
Liberty University

Program Details

Liberty’s 100% online Master of Divinity (M.Div.) in Professional Chaplaincy – Military track equips students with ministry training focused on the role of the chaplain in military settings. With this degree, students with or without previous ministry training can get a broad base of theology, ministry, Bible studies, and other essential skills to meet their ministry goals. M.Div. in Professional Chaplaincy students will study the ethics and methods of pastoral care, approaches to evangelism, the foundations of expository teaching, and have a firm foundation in chaplain ministry skills. The Military area of study provides students with additional skills and knowledge to provide spiritual and emotional support for service members, veterans, and their families who are struggling with deployments, mental health issues, and injuries. Students in the M.Div. in Professional Chaplaincy – Military program will also complete chaplaincy field experience for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). These additional hands-on skills will help equip students to take on chaplaincy roles in many mission fields and provide a credential that can help open doors for ministry in and outside of the Church. Graduates of the professional chaplaincy program will be well-equipped for roles as ministry leaders, military chaplains, pastors, and youth pastors.
