Program Details

Liberty’s 100% online M.A. in Biblical Languages – Thesis Concentration is a 45-hour track designed to provide in-depth studies of biblical Greek and Hebrew studies and an in-depth thesis project to help establish language studies students as experts in the field. Throughout this degree, students will gain the skill set needed to translate the Bible from its source texts, conduct biblical research, author biblical studies scholarship, and develop their research into a long-form project published as a complete piece of academic scholarship. Students in this program will study biblical languages and biblical exposition methods to explain and interpret biblical passages accurately and responsibly based on the best practices in language studies while learning how to use biblical criticism, research techniques, and writing skills to construct a persuasive argument in their theses. This program’s focus on biblical languages and writing can help students establish themselves as experts in translation and biblical teaching, allowing them to build up existing ministries and engage in advanced biblical scholarship. As such, this degree can be useful for students in personal ministry, ministry writing, starting into the field of Bible translation, and in biblical teaching in churches at any level of education from K-12 to higher education. These skills can also help students prepare for doctoral studies in Liberty’s Ph.D. in Bible Exposition. Students who want to pursue specialized research and writing in biblical topics will gain the expertise and credentials needed to pursue roles as professional writers, biblical scholars, university teachers, and administrators in churches and ministries that need in-depth biblical teaching.
