Liberty’s 100% online Doctor of Worship Studies – Ethnomusicology equips worship ministry professionals with the essential tools to engage with their congregations on a cultural level. This degree equips students with the knowledge and expertise needed to function in a variety of music and worship cultures and contexts within the evangelical community. The specialization in ethnomusicology builds on these general worship ministry skills to help ministry professionals meet the unique needs of specific cultural contexts and learning how to more closely relate to the life experience of the congregation. This program targets career ministers of music or worship pastors who have first-hand ministry experience and want to better serve their congregations with new and better ministry techniques. This doctoral degree will also equip students to teach worship studies in a college or university setting, write professionally in worship studies topics, and to pursue leadership roles in worship-related fields such as Christian music publishing.
