Program Details

Liberty University’s online B.S. in Teaching English as a Second Language provides students with the training and credentials needed to be competitive both here and abroad as an English language instructor. Students in this program will learn not only the linguistic skills needed to be a great English teacher but also how to overcome cultural barriers and reach students struggling to cope with the complexity of the English language. Students in this program will study applied grammar, linguistics and second language acquisition and study the best practices for preparing curriculum with your students’ languages needs in mind. This program is designed for students who want to become informed and expert English language teachers by learning to leverage the language acquisition process to augment the success of English learners. Students will learn practical and effective activities and class exercises, study essential language learning approaches, learn how to overcome cultural challenges, and gain hands-on experience through our internship program. Graduates of this program will be ready to pursue English language teaching in private and some public schools, as well as in international markets. Students will be well-equipped for careers as English instructors, second language curriculum developers, second language linguistics researchers, and international missionaries.
