Liberty’s 100% online Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Mathematics Education 6-12 is a teaching licensure-track gives students the specialized knowledge they need to teach topics in mathematics at the middle and high school levels. The content of this degree is designed to meet state licensure requirements for teaching middle grades and high school math in Virginia, allowing students to apply for reciprocity in other states. This program also meets standards set by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) through the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Students in the B.Ed. in Mathematics Education 6-12 will build on a foundation of teaching and education knowledge with specialized course content that prepares them to teach on all level-appropriate topics in math. Through this program, students will gain broad and in-depth understanding of mathematics topics for each grade level as well as practical skills for effective teaching. Students will also gain hands-on experience in a classroom in their communities through a combined 240 hours of practicum and student teaching. With these skills, students will be prepared to pursue roles as licensed middle or high school math teachers, private school math teachers, STEM curriculum coordinators, and mathematics literacy program directors.
