Program Details

Liberty University’s 100% online Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Elementary Education – Middle Grades Mathematics is designed to help students become licensed elementary school teachers and middle school math teachers. This program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Additionally, Liberty’s online B.Ed. courses have been approved by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and can help students pursue initial teacher licensure in the state of Virginia. This program is ideal for students who primarily want to teach at the elementary school (K-6) level but who also want the flexibility to branch out into middle school teaching roles. Students will complete over 90 practicum hours and at least 1 full semester of student teaching before graduation, allowing them to gain valuable, hands-on experience. Throughout the program, students will explore important aspects of elementary education, including curriculum development, teaching methods, instructional design, and classroom technology. Additionally, with the middle grades mathematics endorsement, students can diversify their skill set and learn how to teach various mathematical subjects to young adolescents. Some of the math topics students can explore include mathematical reasoning, coordinate geometry, elementary functions, probability and statistics, and discrete mathematics. Upon successful completion of this program, students can pursue roles as curriculum coordinators, education consultants, elementary school teachers, middle school math teachers, private school teachers, and tutors.
