Program Overview

Liberty University has designed a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education degree program with an interdisciplinary studies focus to suit the busy lifestyles of working professional students in an online format.

Students with a desire to gain further insight into the foundational principles of education will learn the necessary skills to enter an education program.  The B.S. in Early Childhood Education will equip students with a firm understanding of early educational development and behavior to advance in career aspirations.  The program gives students the opportunity to  achieve inpidualized career goals while observing the discipline of education from a Christian perspective, and establishing a firm understanding of early childhood educational development and behavior.  The theories and methodology of Christian education will assist those who wish to proceed into work within Christian schools, churches and home schooling. Students of the program will also study current trends practiced in private and public schools, while evaluating methods for differentiated learning and direct instruction.

The focused curriculum will cover the current trends practiced in private and public schools, while emphasizing a solid foundation in theories and methodology of a Christian-based commitment.  Students will assist fellow educators in the arenas of Christian schools, churches and home schooling.  Liberty University's Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education degree serves as the solid foundation for successful students to gain a higher education by preparing for a Masters degree in Education.

The Liberty University School of Education provides quality Christian education based on the principles of God’s Word. The school, by virtue, is committed to strengthening an inpiduals mind, body and soul while educating the person as God created.  The School of Education offers many residential and online programs to prepare students for careers in teaching, school administration and programs in the area of sport management.  The university recognizes prior learning and experiences as academic credit toward the online degree.  Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) is only applicable to undergraduate degree programs and students should be aware that before applying for PLA, credits deemed acceptable will be viewed only as transfer credit and will not be accepted as credit taken through Liberty University.  The awarding of credits and the determination of applicability of those credits to degree completion requirements can only be made after official review by a Prior Learning Assessor.

The credentials accepted for transfer include:

Child Development Associate (CDA)

Christian Child Development Education (CCDE), CDEA

The Preschool Associate Credential (PAC), ACSI

Liberty University also awards credit to students who have received college credit recommendations from the American Council on Education:
