Liberty’s 100% online Associate of Arts in Creative Writing is designed to provide students with a foundation in writing concepts, publishing, advertising, and web content that are crucial to success in professional writing. Developed in partnership with #1 New York Times bestseller Karen Kingsbury, students in the AA in Creative Writing will gain insights into the writing process as well as critical business skills unique to the professional writing industry. Students will learn the basics of analytical reading, informed reasoning, effective writing, and sound argumentation while engaging with the literary components, complexity, and craft of writing. Students in this program will also gain the practical working knowledge of the fundamentals of editing, layout, and publishing as well as the necessary skills of research and bibliographic methods necessary for successful creative writing. Students interested in augmenting their personal writing projects or breaking into professional writing as a career will benefit from this program’s practical approach to the writing craft. Graduates of the AA in Creative Writing will be well equipped to continue on to a bachelor’s degree while pursuing professional writing goals with the training in this program.
