Program Overview

LeTourneau University's Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies and Ministry degree offers a curriculum focused on improving the student's understanding of theological, biblical and ministerial concepts with specific emphasis on math and natural sciences. The  program's goal is to provide the knowledge needed to interpret and apply the Bible in real-life situations as well as improve upon one's practical skills of planning, leading, speaking and teaching in the ministerial field.

The Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies and Ministry degree requires students to complete 36 credit hours of major courses. Of these, 33 credits are core classes. Major courses include: New Testament, Old Testament, Christian Apologetics, Foundations of Christian Ministry, Contemporary World Missions, Evangelism and Discipleship, Ministry of Teaching, Worship Leadership, Christian Doctrine, and Integrating Faith into Life and Work.

Additionally, 39 credit hours of general education courses and 49 credit hours of elective courses are needed in order to complete degree requirements. General education courses include the following, The Bible, Communication/Speech, English Composition, Literature, History, Math: College Algebra and higher, Kinesiology, and Natural Science with lab.  In total, the Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies and Ministry degree at LETU requires 126 credit hours for completion of degree.

The Biblical Studies program at LETU, including both Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies and Ministry and Bachelor of Biblical Studies in Ministry, offers students the ability to take all courses online or take evening courses at the Dallas or Houston campuses. All online classes are interactive and flexible for each student's needs and convenience.

LeTourneau University is an interdenominational Christian university that is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges in Schools Commission on Colleges. University founder, R.G Letourneau was a world-renowned Christian leader who worked to provide students of LETU with the knowledge to become leaders in their own field of mission work.

    LeTourneau begins its faith statement by declaring “a deep faith in God is the cornerstone of LeTourneau University.” This private not-for-profit university began as an all male college in 1956 by R.G. and Evelyn LeTourneau in Longview, Texas. It transitioned to a co-educational facility by 1961. It is an interdenominational Christian-based organization that welcomes students from all denominations.
