Program Details

LeTourneau University's Bachelor of Science in Aviation Studies degree offers active duty military, veterans, and other students the ability to build upon previous aeronautical work experience and aviation-related course work already completed while experiencing a Christ-focused education.

The flexibility of online classes coupled with the ability to transfer previous aviation-related credit hours makes LETU convenient for all students, particularly active duty military and veterans. All students may take classes entirely online or at the Longview campus in Texas.

Courses taken at LETU to complete the Bachelor of Science in Aviation studies degree include: Aviation Management, Aviation Law, Aviation Safety Factors, Aviation Human Factors, Aviation Management Capstone, Financial Analysis for Managers, Business Ethics, as well as three credit hours of elective courses. These credits are added with the student's additional 15 hours transferred in to total 126 credit hours. In total, students will complete 39 credits in major courses, 43 credits in general education  and 44 credits in electives.

LeTourneau University is an accredited university by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The university is categorized as an interdenominational Christian university that thrives to produce graduates of high moral character and standards. The Christ-focused educational experience carries through every class and degree taken at LETU including the Bachelor of Science in Aviation Studies degree program.

Additionally, the Aviation Studies program of LETU is a nationally recognized program, earning the Loening Tropy by the National Intercollegiate Flying Association(NIFA) in 2009 for most outstanding aviation program in the nation. As a nationally ranked aviation program, LETU boasts faculty that have a variety of industry backgrounds including airline, corporate, general and mission aviation.

The program's goal is to prepare individuals with the knowledge, skills and training to be able to manage  and become leaders in aviation organizations world-wide. Graduates of the LETU Aviation Studies program are known for their strong work ethic and professional excellence in the field. The university reports that many alumni have risen to positions of influence within their line of work.


Students are required to transfer in 15 hours of accredited aeronautical science credits.
