Office Administration - Receptionist Certificate
Lenoir Community College offers an Office Administration program to students who wish to have the opportunity to earn a concentrated certificate in the study of becoming a receptionist. The value of earning this skill set should prepare students for advanced positions in administrative support roles. The specialized courses may be applied to many types of professional office environments and responds to the increasing demands of employers for academically trained professionals who are able to use modern methods of electronic recordkeeping. A receptionist is responsible for ensuring communication from front office to the back office individuals, as well as preparing documents using word processing software, oral and written communication, and many other supportive office duties. Students in the certificate program may use the additional education to become essential professionals in front office responsibilities and provide the foundational support for management and leadership positions. The program is comprised of 18 credit hours, and introduces students to the essential concepts pulled from the associate degree program. The concepts delve into broad topics in courses such as: Text Entry, Editing & Formatting Applications, and Office Publications Design. The program is designed to build on previous experiences while also introducing advanced topics necessary for the administrative roles required to align resources, and to improve communication and productivity. The certificate should serve as the necessary credentials for immediate entry into sought after administration positions, or as the refresher program for individuals needing to gain modern skills in office administration.
