Master of Engineering in Biological Chemical Engineering
Lehigh’s Masters in Biological Chemical Engineering (BCE) program provides its graduates with the knowledge needed to make an impact in one of the field’s many career options. Graduates of this field are needed in fields like renewable energy research, consumer products, and pharmacy, and in positions such as research and development, management, technical sales, and market analysis. A solid understanding in Chemical Engineering is necessary for success and career growth in any of this industry’s positions.
The degree requires participants to complete a minimum of 30 credit hours to graduates. Courses can be completed completely online with Lehigh’s Classroom Online format. The program’s required courses include Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology I, Biotechnology II, and Chemical Reaction Engineering. The remaining credits are made up of elective courses, which contain course topics covering Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Biology. Students can choose to focus on one specialty topic or take courses from all of the disciplines.
Applicants are encouraged to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, although other related chemistry degrees will be accepted. Students are required to have taken an undergraduate course in Molecular Genetics and their undergraduate must be equal to or above a 3.0. Once accepted, students are required to maintain a 3.0GPA. Courses in which students receive a “C” or below will not be counted toward their cumulative credit count, and receiving more than four final course grades lower than a “B-“ warrants removal from the program.
