Program Overview

Lehigh Carbon Community College offers a General Studies A.A. degree for prospective students who are attempting to explore a wide range of topics and courses. This degree is intended to help students who are undecided on a major or field of study, but want to eventually attend a 4-year college or university. While in this program, students will study humanities, mathematics, science, and social science in order to build a foundation in a general encompassing area of all studies.

The General Studies A.A. program requires 60-61 credit hours and may take students, on average, four semesters to complete. Some of the specific courses students will be enrolled in are as follows: College English I and II, Mathematics, Social Science, Physical Education, and several free electives. For free electives, students are encouraged to consult with a Lehigh Carbon Community College academic advisor for guidance (only courses numbered 101 or above may be used to fulfill program requirements).

After completion of the degree students should be able to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, analyze intricate problems involving unclear possibilities, employ effective methods of research. For more information on transferring credits to a 4-year university students are encouraged to talk to an academic advisor or counselor.

    School Overview

    Lehigh Carbon Community College is a two-year public school located in Shnecksville, Pennsylvania. LCCC was founded as Lehigh County Community College in 1966 and constructed new facilities to hold classes in 1972. The college changed to its current name in 1994 to increase enrollment form the nearby Carbon County.

    LCCC offers two-year associate degrees, certificates and specialized diploma programs, and workforce training for students studying either full-time, part-time or online. Classes are offered during the daytime, evening, and weekend.
