This degree is intended to help students who are undecided on a major or field of study, but want to eventually attend a 4-year college or university. While in this program, students will study humanities, mathematics, science, and social science in order to build a foundation in a general encompassing area of all studies.
The General Studies A.A. program requires 60-61 credit hours and may take students, on average, four semesters to complete. Some of the specific courses students will be enrolled in are as follows: College English I and II, Mathematics, Social Science, Physical Education, and several free electives. For free electives, students are encouraged to consult with a Lehigh Carbon Community College academic advisor for guidance (only courses numbered 101 or above may be used to fulfill program requirements).
After completion of the degree students should be able to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, analyze intricate problems involving unclear possibilities, employ effective methods of research. For more information on transferring credits to a 4-year university students are encouraged to talk to an academic advisor or counselor.
