Program Details

The online Corrections Certificate is primarily designed to accommodate in-service officers interested in a specialized field, but pre-service students are also eligible to enroll.  Students will learn the knowledge and skills needed to become corrections officers, human services aides, residential juvenile counselors, street outreach counselors, and juvenile corrections aides.  Graduates are able to:

• Understand the functions of the criminal justice system
• Understand the functions of corrections
• Understand how corrections relate to the criminal justice system
• Develop historical perspective of principles, theories, and challenges in corrections
