Program Overview

Students at Lee University are given the opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ministry Leadership with an emphasis on Music/Worship. The degree is broken up into seven sections: religion core, general education core, ministry leadership specialty area, music/worship emphasis, and general electives. In the Religion core students will build their biblical and theological foundation with classes such as Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, Introduction to Theology, Introduction to Christian Ethics, and more.

In the general education core, students will be required to take 42 hours of credits covering topics such as humanities, communications, social science, natural science, mathematics, and foreign language. Thirty hours is dedicated to the Ministry Leadership Specialty Area.

As for the music/worship concentration, students will take an array of music courses such as Music Fundamentals, Philosophy of Music and Writing, and Aspects of Leading Music for Worship, among others. The final section in the degree is designed to encompass two general electives. These electives are the student’s choosing and can be any course that is not within the ministry leadership realm in the course catalog. The total credit hours for this degree is 120 hours. Students who successfully complete the degree program may possess adequate skills to work within a church organization, most likely in the musical department.

    School Overview

    Lee University is a four-year private school located in Cleveland, Tennessee. The school was established in 1918 as a Bible Training School until 1947 when the name was changed to Lee College. The school was granted university status in 1997. Lee has become one of the largest Christ-centered private institutions in Tennessee and the largest in the Appalachian College Association.

    Lee University offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and post-master certificates. Academic programs are made up of four colleges and schools:

    • School of Religion

    Online classes are offered through the division of Adult Learning using a program called Moodle. Courses are offered fully online, in an intensive format (hybrid online and onsite mix), or fully onsite at Lee education centers. Several undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered completely online, as well as certificates in ministry.
