Program Overview

Students who are interested in entering the ministry field may be ideal candidates for Lee University’s Ministry Leadership with a Counseling emphasis degree. Participants must complete a total of 120 credit hours in order to fulfill requirements to earn this degree.

The program is broken up into seven sections. The first section is dedicated to the general education core (42 hours). The second section is the Communications section, and the third category is Natural Science and Mathematics. There are only three courses in the third section: Understanding Economic Issues, Understanding Human Behavior, and Understand Contemporary Society. The fourth section is entitled Foreign Language and contains classes such as: Intermediate Language I and II (Spanish, French, Sign Language, New Testament Green or Latin).

Section five involves the specialty area: Ministry Leadership. Students will need to participate in a total of 30 hours in this section. The sixth area of courses requires 24 hours and is dedicated to the Counseling Emphasis. The final section of credits is for students’ choosing, and should focus on their particular interests or career goals. Students may choose any 3 courses outside of the Ministry Leadership major so they can personalize the degree.

    School Overview

    Lee University is a four-year private school located in Cleveland, Tennessee. The school was established in 1918 as a Bible Training School until 1947 when the name was changed to Lee College. The school was granted university status in 1997. Lee has become one of the largest Christ-centered private institutions in Tennessee and the largest in the Appalachian College Association.

    Lee University offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and post-master certificates. Academic programs are made up of four colleges and schools:

    • College of Arts & Sciences
    • Helen DeVos College of Education
    • School of Music
    • School of Religion

    Online classes are offered through the division of Adult Learning using a program called Moodle. Courses are offered fully online, in an intensive format (hybrid online and onsite mix), or fully onsite at Lee education centers. Several undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered completely online, as well as certificates in ministry.
