Program Overview

At Lee University students can enroll in the Christian Leadership Certificate program to pursue a career in the Christian community. The purpose of this certificate program is to prepare men and women for Christian leadership and service.

Some of the program objectives are as follows: Provide students the skills necessary to serve in the capacity of a Christian camp counselor or camp activity leader; the skills necessary to originate, generate, and lead a program for youth in a local congregation; the qualities of a servant leader in a variety of settings; understand the basic principles and practices of servant leadership and display the qualities of a servant leader in a congregational setting; be able to explain and examine theories related to marriage and family, summarize factors involved in mate selection and readiness for marriage, and articulate principles of establishing and maintaining healthy family relationships; and finally, show sensitivity to and elect to be proactive in dealing with the challenges and needs of an aging population, e.g., spiritual/religious, social, biological, physiological, and psychological.

    School Overview

    Lee University is a four-year private school located in Cleveland, Tennessee. The school was established in 1918 as a Bible Training School until 1947 when the name was changed to Lee College. The school was granted university status in 1997. Lee has become one of the largest Christ-centered private institutions in Tennessee and the largest in the Appalachian College Association.

    Lee University offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, and post-master certificates. Academic programs are made up of four colleges and schools:

    • College of Arts & Sciences
    • Helen DeVos College of Education
    • School of Music
    • School of Religion

    Online classes are offered through the division of Adult Learning using a program called Moodle. Courses are offered fully online, in an intensive format (hybrid online and onsite mix), or fully onsite at Lee education centers. Several undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered completely online, as well as certificates in ministry.
