Bible and Theology BS
Lee University offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible and Theology. Biblical theology seeks to put individual texts in their historical context since what came before them is the foundation on which they are laid and what comes after is what they anticipate. Biblical theology is sometimes called the "history of special revelation" since it deals with the unfolding and expanding nature of revelation as history progresses through the Bible.
This degree can be taken completely online. All students must take ENGL-106 and ENGL-110 before considering this degree program. The entire degree requires 120 credit hours, which are divided into five sections. The first section is the “Religion Core.” Students are required to take Old Testament Survey, New Testament Survey, Methods of Bible Study (DAL), Introduction to Theology, Introduction to Christian Ethics, and Doctrine of the Holy Spirit.
The second section requires 36 credit hours for the “General Education Core.” This section is further divided into five subsections, which include: Humanities, Communications, Social Science, Natural Science, and Mathematics.
The third section is for Specialty Area Requirements, which is 36 hours. Some of the courses this section encompasses are Romans and Galatians, Religion and Culture, Contemporary Theology, and more.
The fourth section is saved for Collateral Requirements. This section only requires 15 credits in courses such as: Gospel of John (DAL), Introduction to Missions, Contemporary World Religions, and more.
The final section is General Electives. This section is purposely incorporated into the degree so students have the chance to personalize the degree with courses that appeal to them outside the realm of Bible and Theology.
