Master of Science in Management - Human Resources Management
Lasell College offers a Master of Science in Management degree with a specialization in Human Resource Management for students and professionals in business whose professional interests involve developing a knowledge of advanced principles and practices in personnel management and personnel relations within an organization. Through the specialization, students will develop an understanding of leadership issues as well as the responsibilities of the role as human resource management will impact the performance of individuals and teams. Students will develop the skills needed to manage skilled and specialized human resource teams and how to counsel senior management on key personnel issues.
As part of the program, students will study materials relating to the management of personnel in business, nonprofit, and government organizations. Some of the classes include operations strategy, conflict resolution by negotiation, human resources management, human resources law, housing and long-term care options, and marketing communications.
Upon completion of the degree, students will have demonstrated the necessary professional qualifications and knowledge needed for advanced and leadership roles and responsibilities in the field of human resources. Those qualifications include the ability to demonstrate an understanding of the role and historical development of human resources management and various approaches to employee development, employee relations, and performance management, to demonstrate an understanding of evolving theories and practices in human resource management, and to demonstrate an understanding of the strategic and contextual approach to problem solving and the formulation of policy and strategies.
