Program Details

The Computer Support Specialist program at Laramie County Community College allows students to complete courses and earn the certificate entirely online. The online program’s courses offer flexible and convenient schedules that deliver a quality education. The Computer Support Specialist program is two semesters in length.  

Graduates of the certificate program will be prepared for entry-level jobs at computer help stations and call centers. Graduates may find careers as a Customer Service Representative. The program will also prepare students for other certifications such as Help Desk Analyst and Microsoft Office Specialist. If a student is interested, the program can prepare students for the CompTia A plus Certification Exam. 

Students will learn a variety of concepts within the Computer Support Specialist program. Courses will cover topics such as basic keyboarding, fundamentals of Windows, basics of local area networking, and LAN systems. Instructors will provide practice in advanced Word Processing skills such as running spell check, using writing tools, integrating contact lists, sorting text, using templates, graphics, developing master documents, and application integration. The curriculum will also cover topics such as different computer operating systems, database access, FTP, online security, and computer hardware installation. Students, upon graduation, will be able to solve various desktop operating system errors and problems such as issues dealing with installation, hardware, and connectivity complications.
