Program Details

Laramie County Community College provides a Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) Certificate program that can be completed entirely online. The online courses offer flexible, convenient schedules and deliver a quality education. Courses within the program will strengthen student’s Cisco Networking Technology skills and prepare them for the CCNA Cisco certification exam. The certificate’s course credits can be applied to the Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems degree. Generally, the normal length for the program is two semesters (one year). 

The Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) Certificate will require students to complete a minimum of eight courses with a total of 25 credit hours. The eight courses are Operating Systems, Computer Hardware Maintenance, Introduction to Computer Science I, Computer Information Systems, Cisco: Internetworking I, and Cisco: Advanced Internet Working I-III. 

Students within the program will learn various topics that a can be found in Cisco Networking. Instructors will teach students the fundamentals of operating systems, operating system support and prepare them for the A+ operating system exam. Topics will include hard-drive setup, Windows-Family setup, Linux setup, and device drivers. Courses will also educate students to be able to troubleshoot hardware devices, program, manage databases, set up local area networks, and be proficient in the routing protocols. Students will have hands on experience with microcomputers, installing network cabling, and selecting equipment locations. Some advanced topics the program will cover are LAN design, virtual local area networks, IP addressing techniques, and intermediate routing techniques.
