Lander University is a four-year public institution located in Greenwood, South Carolina. The school was founded by Samuel Lander in 1872 as Williamston Female College and remained a private school for 26 years. Lander moved to Greenwood in 1904, the same year that the school’s founder died, and was renamed Lander College in honor of him. Only women were admitted to Lander until 1943. In 1992 Lander was granted university-status and changed its name to Lander University.
Lander University offers certificates of completion, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees. Online courses are available to students and several degrees can be earned completely online.
