Accounting is an evolving and dynamic career, and may appeal to all ages and skill sets. Lakeshore Technical College intends to prepare students with systems, team building and public speaking skills to meet the needs of today’s accounting careers. Every business and industry, from movie-making to alternative energy, requires people-oriented, analytical, and creative thinkers to address accounting needs. As an accountant, students will have direct input regarding a company’s financial health and profitability.

A degree in accounting may be instrumental to rewarding and challenging opportunities in a variety of fields of interest. After completing this program, students wish to begin their career immediately, or build on their Lakeshore Technical College credits to earn additional degrees, this program will prepare students to process financial transactions throughout the accounting cycle, analyze financial and business information to support planning and decision making, and perform payroll preparation, reporting, and analysis tasks. Students may also learn to perform cost accounting preparation, reporting, and analysis tasks, perform organizational and/or individual tax accounting preparation, reporting, and analysis tasks, identify internal controls to reduce risk, and adapt accounting processes and principles to a government and/or not-for-profit environment.

    School Overview

    Lakeshore Technical College is a two-year public school located in Cleveland, Wisconsin. LTC was established in 1967 as Lakeshore Technical Institute and is a member of the 16 schools in the Wisconsin Technical College System. The primary campus is located in Cleveland but smaller regional centers are located in Sheboygan and Manitowoc. LTC also uses community education centers in Two Rivers, Mishicot, Kiel, Plymouth, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Oostburg, and Random Lake.

    Lakeshore Technical College offers certificates of completion, technical diplomas, and associate’s degrees in over 100 programs. Special learning opportunities available to students include: distance learning, study abroad, and weekend/evening college. Several degrees and diplomas are offered in fully online formats.
