Bachelor of Arts in Medical Imaging
La Roche College offers an online Bachelor of Arts in Medical Imaging. The medical imaging technologist is a skilled radiographer qualified to provide a patient the services needed in procedures like: computed tomography, ultrasounds and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The medical imagery field requires the most advanced imaging professionals in the diagnostic radiology industry.
Graduates of the medical imaging program will use principles of radiation protection to reduce exposure factors when positioning patients for a variety of examinations and understand the complicated computerized equipment for specific procedures. Medical imaging technicians are also able to assist in the surgical procedures performed during examinations, assessing the technical quality of the image, and providing basic patient care while functioning as a member of the health care team.
The B.A. in Medical Imaging degree program prepares students to graduate as medical imaging science clinicians at the professional level. The program gives students the opportunity to study scientific knowledge in medical imaging as well as a liberal arts education that will enhance their professional demeanor. The B.A. program provides graduates the skills to advance in a current position of medical imaging and provides a foundation for future educational goals in the pursuit of masters and doctorate programs.
The B.A. in Medical Imaging is a 120 credit hour degree program designed to prepare students for careers in medical imaging, including, but not limited to, radiography, MRI, nuclear medicine and ultrasound. Graduates will be well prepared for entry-level positions in the medical industry. The convenience of the online format gives working adults the opportunity for advancement while remaining in their current jobs. A student must have already completed an approved hospital program in RT or RDMS certification, which is usually 60 transferable credits in addition to the required 60 credit hours in B.A. coursework. The required 60 credits hours for the Bachelor of Arts is comprised of
21 credits of Liberal Arts courses
27 credits of CORE curriculum courses
and 12 credits of General Electives
A minimum of 120 credits are required for the degree, the last 30 of which must be earned at La Roche College.
