The Associate in Business Administration degree offered by Kirtland Community College is a program of study available to students in a completely online format. This program is intended for individuals who are interested in pursuing a Business degree, but who cannot commit to a four-year Bachelor’s degree level program. An objective of this program is to equip its students with the skills and knowledge needed to: start a business, take courses in specific topics that relate to personal interests and career goals, and to be able to transfer credits toward a Bachelor’s degree. These online courses aim to help students acquire the competencies needed to start careers like accountants, advertising managers, economists, and insurance underwriters.
The Associate in Business Administration program is intended for students who wish to begin their education and careers by enrolling in a program that helps them to acquire General Education credits as well as some Business-related courses. Students who earn this degree can go onto seek a Bachelor’s degree in majors such as: Accounting, Advertising, Economics, Finance, General Business, Management, Marketing, Personnel and Industrial Relations, and Public Administration. This program requires students to take and complete a minimum of 60 credit hours of courses in order to graduate with this degree. This includes General Education courses in the following subjects: Communications, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Math and Natural Sciences. The Business related courses that are available through Kirtland Community College include: Accounting Principles I and II, Computer Accounting / Quickbooks, Introduction to Business, Grant Writing, Principles of Management, E-Commerce Management, Legal Environment of Business, Personnel Management, Principles of Selling, Customer Relations, Principles of Marketing, Advertising, Market Research, and Internet Marketing.
This program of study aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to take on entry-level positions that could lead to middle management or leadership roles in various kinds of businesses or industries. This program can be completely through a combination of online courses offered by Kirtland Community College and other courses offered by the Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative.
