Master of Practical Theology - Worship

Program Details

The Master of Practical Theology in Worship Degree from The King’s University is designed for practitioners of the Christian faith who seek the education necessary to effectively lead a congregation, regardless of the setting. Focusing on biblical language studies, theology, history, music, and the importance of context in modern worship, this program aims to produce well rounded and empathetic leaders. The two-year program provides flexibility for working individuals, allowing students to design a program, in conjunction with advisors and professors, that best reflects their goals or calling. Graduates of this program will be prepared for ministry anywhere.

In order to complete this Master’s program, students must complete a total of 92 overall credits in what is normally a two-year sequence. Of these required hours, 18 are devoted to topics in Biblical Studies, with courses in Biblical Hermeneutics, the Old and New Testaments, and Exegetical Principles; and 18 to the area of Theological and Historical Studies, with courses in Christian Theology, History of the Modern and Early Churches, and Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements. Of the remaining credits, 6 go to Biblical electives, 6 to Theological electives, 6 to Resource Studies, 8 to the Practices of Ministry Studies, and a final 30 to Music and Worship electives. Courses for these sections vary depending on the student’s specific goals and are chosen with the help of an advisor.

Applicants must have a Bachelor Degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution and a minimum 2.0 overall GPA.
