Associates of Applied Science in Mental Health
Kennebec Valley Community College offers an associate degree in applied science in mental health. This degree will help prepare students for beginnings level and higher positions in the workforce. Some positions are in areas such as substance abuse, mental health rehabilitation, developmental disability services, and gerontology.
The mental health program strives to always produce the best opportunities and outcomes. This program provides essential learning opportunities toward the achievement in general education, and even specifically to the mental health learning outcomes. This program works with other departments as will in the assessment of specific general education and course outcomes.
The science in mental health degree requires five MHT100 level courses all students must complete. Once completed students can apply to the Muskie School Center for learning for the provisional MHRT-community certification. Once students have complete these courses and applications then can then move on to the next level. This includes the five remaining MHT200 level courses listed in the program. Once students have completed these next five classes, then can apply once more to the Muskie school center, but for the full MHR-community certification this time.
In order for students to qualify for their certification, all courses must be completed. Students though are encouraged to continue their education to advance their filed standing. This may include applying to four-year institutions as well to expand their knowledge and have a more fulfilled educational experience.
Kennebec valley community college associate of applied science in mental health offers a wide variety of career opportunities. The field of mental health is very perse and therefore the careers and qualifications are very perse as well with their opportunities.
