Kennebec Valley Community College offers a program in Computed Tomography that is designed to provide working radiologic technologists with the necessary education to prepare them for the Computed Tomography registry examination. Through the theoretical background and documented clinical experiences students will be prepared to take the examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. This program is a two-semester certification with a total of 25 credit hours.
The mission of the Radiologic Technology program is to provide students the best education and experience to provide direct service to patients using radiation. With this students will be able to produce the necessary images for medical diagnosis from an integral perspective. Students will also have the opportunity to work with the most recent advanced imaging and the new technological modalities offered in the medical field.
Students who complete this program have multiple educational outcomes. First off graduates will be able to sit through the American Registry of Radiological Technologists Certification Examination in Computed Technology. Graduates should also show proficiency in a wide range of computed technology procedures by applying course theories to the real world practices. Graduates should also show professionalism when working with the healthcare community and healthy relationships with patients and families. After completing the program graduates should also be able to apply what they have learned in their professional practice. Finally all graduates should continue to improve their education and grow as professionals.

Kennebec Valley Community College is a public two-year school located in Fairfield, Maine. KVCC was established in 1969 as one of the seven colleges in the Maine Community College System. Many students choose to receive their associate’s degree here and then move on to an affiliate four-year institution to earn their bachelor’s degree. Kennebec Valley Community College offers certificates of completion and associate’s degrees in the following programs: health sciences, computer science, business administration and various trades programs.
Distance learning classes are for the convenience of students so that they can complete coursework on their own time. All instruction will be done online and no on-campus class sessions will be held. Hybrid classes are also available where students mostly attend class online but are required to come on campus for a few class sessions.
