Program Details

A Master of Business Administration degree is available from Jackson State University for students and professionals in businesses who are interested in developing advanced and specialized knowledge of business management and business organizations. This knowledge may be in order to progress to administrator and managerial status. Students should learn the communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem solving skills necessary for business and entrepreneurship and in developing career options in management and administration.

This curriculum aims to develop managerial and leadership capabilities in business. Classes include subjects such as Information and Decision Support, Individual and Teamwork, and Financial Accounting. After completing required courses, students should be able to display certain abilities. These include being able to function as mid-level and high-level management in business through completion of the program, the ability to design marketing strategies and plans specific to consumer and market needs in global markets, being able to create technology innovation plans based on consumer needs that bring about growth in corporate products, services and ideas that align with innovation theory, be able to develop and recommend preferred human resource systems and plans sensitive to organizational human behavior in different global contexts. Other skills include the ability to utilize accounting and financial information for decision-making purposes in diverse business settings and situations, and the ability to develop operations plans and determine appropriate quality improvement strategies for product manufacturing and service delivery in diverse global cultures and environments.


BS/BA Degree from an accredited college/university. Official Transcripts from all prior college(s). GPA 2.5 or higher. Official copy of GMAT or GRE scores (Must be within the last 5 years). Evidence of professional experience, resume or a personal statement. The GRE/GMAT may be wavied for the following applicants: a) those with a doctorate degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., J.D., etc.) from a university accredited by  a major regional accreditation agency, or b) those with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale and a master's degree from a university accredited by a major regional accreditation agency.
