Program Overview

Ivy Tech Community College offers an online Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Production and Operations (MPRO) program. The degree is designed to develop the knowledge of modern manufacturing processes and technologies needed in today's advanced manufacturing organizations. The MPRO program enhances a variety of career aspirations such as:  advancement within an organization, becoming a production technician in manufacturing, Strengthening knowledge to support roles as an accountant, HR professional, inventory manager, etc. in a manufacturing organization.

The Manufacturing, Production and Operations program prepares students to become skilled production operators and how to function as fully proficient manufacturing system employees in the manufacturing industry. Manufacturing companies need skilled machine operators to use gauging, inspection, and operations techniques to produce high quality products in the most efficient process.  Students who complete the MPRO program will understand the needs, processes, and activities used in today's manufacturing environment and receive a two-year Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. The MPRO degree offers the opportunity to gain employment or advance in one of the most desirable manufacturing industry sectors. Students of the 61 credit hour MPRO program will graduate with an understanding of these core manufacturing courses:  English Composition, Introduction to Plant Floor and CNC Principles, Shop Mathematics, Introduction to the Workplace and Safety, Manufacturing Production and Operations, Manufacturing Automation, CNC Operations, Quality Control Concepts and Techniques, Lean Manufacturing, Production Technology,  Production Machine Tooling and Advanced Lean Manufacturing.

The Associate of Applied Science degree program gives students the academic resources needed for careers, career changes and career advancement. The virtual online option provides students with the same content as a traditional classroom program, but is delivered entirely through a distance education delivery system. The A.A.S. in Manufacturing, Production and Operations program can prepare students for higher educational goals at a four-year institution. The program offers an education in technical areas with emphasis on analysis, synthesis and evaluation of topics related to the information security fields. The program content, provides depth in technical and professional skills in addition to the general education requirements that give students the problem solving, communications, scientific and mathematical skills to successfully compete in the job market. 

Graduates will be well prepared for entry-level career positions in positions such as Machine Operator, Parts Inspector, Assembler, Work Cell Operator, Parts Layout, Machine Setters or use the A.A.S. degree as the foundation for future education goals.

    Ivy Tech Community College was founded in 1963 as Indiana Vocational Technical College. Back then, it was focused primarily on technical and vocational education. Today, ITCC is Indiana’s only full-fledged community college, offering more than 150 programs in the divisions of Health, Technology, Business & Public Services, and University/Transfer, as well as transfer programs with in-state and out-of-state schools. Students can choose from more than 1,000 online classes.
