Program Details

The online Graduate Certificate in Analytical Spectroscopy program helps students learn theories of spectroscopic transitions and their applications in structural elucidations and quantitative analysis.  The curriculum covers topics including ultraviolet/visible, infrared, Raman, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; mass spectroscopy; atomic absorption spectroscopy; atomic and flame emission spectroscopy; chemiluminescence; fluorescence; phosphorescence; light scattering; and refractometry.  Courses may include:

  • Advanced Analytical Chemistry
  • Physical Methods of Characterization
  • Gas Chromatography – Theory and Practice
  • Liquid Chromatography – Theory and Practice


  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 (4.0 scale) or higher
  • Official transcripts from all institutions attended
  • Prerequisites may be required if degree is not in closely related field
