Program Details

The online Certificate in Medical Coding & Billing prepares students for careers in Health Information Management and Healthcare Professional Services.  Students learn about coding which is used to identify medical issues, helping accurately describe diagnoses and the procedures performed to test or correct diagnoses.  You will receive in-depth instruction on medical record coding and billing practices in the healthcare industry.  Graduates of the program are prepared for positions in physician offices, hospitals, outpatient care centers, and nursing care facilities. 

Students are able to use medical codes for reasons that include:

  • Reporting services performed for reimbursement
  • Identifying symptoms that must be evaluated
  • Helping with administrative functions
