Program Details

The online Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program brings together theories and content in differentiated instruction, literacy, special education, classroom management, and technology to help enhance every aspect of teaching.  The program is designed to promote the professional development of practicing teachers at all grade levels and in all subject areas.  Students learn to create effective lesson plans for diverse student populations, effectively respond to and encourage both special education and gifted students, implement proven strategies for literacy instruction, use technology to meet student needs and wants, and minimize and handle discipline problems.

Requirements

  • Completion of a teacher education program with a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent foreign institution, verified on original transcripts
  • Indication of academic success: 3.0 overall GPA in a completed undergraduate program
  • A copy of a current teaching license
  • Verification of a full-time teaching position as evidenced by letter from school in which teacher is practicing
  • A minimum of one year full-time teaching experience
  • Two letters of reference
  • A statement and explanation of professional goals
  • Verification of ongoing access to computer technology, including e-mail and Internet
