Program Overview

The Undergraduate Certificate in Finance program is focused on preparing students for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. The program's courses are described as “condensed” and are designed to strengthen skills and knowledge within the field of finance. The program is intended for students or current working professionals that do not have the time to complete a finance degree.

All of the courses may be completed online; however, if a student wishes to take more traditional classes, the program also offers campus-based courses on the San Francisco campus.

The program will require the student to complete a minimum of 15 units of undergraduate coursework in order to receive the certificate. All of the courses must have the FI prefix. In order for the courses to count towards the completion of the certificate, students must earn at least a grade of “C” or higher. Some FI courses that are offered are Financial Management, Financial Analysis, Personal Financial Planning, Financial Analysis for Managers, Financial Modeling, Working Capital Management, and Insurance Planning.

Some course may have prerequisites that need to be completed before enrolling. The prerequisite credit may be fulfilled through approved transfer credit or course completion at Golden Gate University.

This private nonprofit university targets undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in “law, taxation, business and related professions.” Today, the university hosts thousands of online students across the globe in forty plus countries. Limited class sizes provide a “seminar-style” atmosphere with asynchronous discussions. Golden Gate offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a myriad of disciplines.
