Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning
Golden Gate University offers a Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning program for students that do not have the time to complete a financial planning degree and is designed for both new and working professional students. The program fulfills the course and education requirements for the Certified Financial Planner CFP designation and examination. Courses within the program will strengthen the student’s skills and knowledge in all of the critical areas of financial planning.
All of the program’s courses may be completed online. However, if a student is interested in traditional classes, the program also provides campus-based courses on the San Francisco campus.
The program will require students to complete seven courses for a total of 21 semester units. The seven courses are Personal Financial Planning, Personal Investment Management, Retirement & Employee Benefits Planning, Income Tax Planning, Estate Planning, Cases in Financial Planning, and Risk Management & Insurance Planning. Towards the end of the program, students will take a capstone case course that is designed to integrate all previous program knowledge to design and implement a financial plan.
Some of the courses may have prerequisites that need to be completed before course enrollment. The prerequisite credit may be fulfilled through transfer credit or course completion at Golden Gate University.
