Master of Education in Reading Education

Program Details

The online Master of Education in Reading Education program combines theory with practice and prepares individuals for the fast-changing world of literacy preparation at all levels, PreK-12.  The curriculum covers topics such as digital literacy in the 21st century and teaching literacy to English language learners, creating educators who are passionate about literacy and can help children take the steps needed to become successful, independent readers.    Graduates are ready to teach reading and literacy in grades PreK-12 and to provide instructional support for teaching reading and literacy to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Possess a valid, level four or higher, Professional, Advanced Professional, or Lead Professional teaching certificate, leadership certificate, service certificate, or Life certificate
  • Have at least three years teaching experience
  • Cumulative 2.50 (4.0 scale) GPA or higher on all undergraduate and graduate work combined
  • Statement of purpose
