Program Details

An Associate of Science in Psychology is offered from Georgia Perimeter College to students interested in future careers or studies in psychology. This program is designed for students who want to utilize their college experience developing their understanding of psychological theory and learn about the human mind. Through the program, students may prepare for future studies by developing their introductory understanding of the principles of cognition and the foundations of human behavior. Students in the program should develop their understanding of the studies of psychology and varying fields of study relating to abnormal behavior, developmental psychology, and various other topics.

The qualifications that students graduating the program will be expected to demonstrate include understanding of the concepts, theories, perspectives, studies, and trends in psychological science, the processes involved in psychological research, including understanding of research processes, data analysis, and interpretation, and the ability to utilize critical thinking and creative thinking processes, skeptical inquiry, and the scientific method in the solution of mysteries or problems relating to psychology.

In addition to these expectations, students should learn to understand and apply psychological principles to personal, social, and organizational issues, to understand the ambiguity and diversity of human nature and culture and act ethically in communication with other points of view, and apply cultural competencies to effective and sensitive interactions with people from diverse backgrounds.


This is a pathway for students to complete core requirements for transfer into a four-year degree intended for the University System of Georgia. 

Official SACS or regionally accredited high school transcript. Official college transcripts (if applicable). COMPASS and/or ACT, SAT, AP, IB, CLEP scores. Verification of lawful presence in the United States.
