Program Details
The associate’s degree in Social Work from Georgia Military College provides students the skills and knowledge to work in entry level positions in public and private social service agencies. A goal of this online Social Work degree program is to give students a realistic perspective of what is involved in the career of a social worker so they can determine if this career path is right for them.
Students will learn about how social services developed historically in the United States and what its role is in today’s society. Classes will teach the indicators for treatment, services available, and why inter-agency relationships are important.
Graduates with an associate’s degree can work as mental health technicians or eligibility determination specialists, although most will go on to pursue bachelor’s or graduate level degrees for additional career opportunities.
