Program Details

The Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning (ASTL) program incorporates National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) guidelines to help teachers think and practice as leaders and board-certified educators. Designed for teachers with one or more years of teaching or education-related experience, this program prepares professionals interested in working with gifted children. Currently licensed teachers may complete this certificate to fulfill requirements for add-on endorsement. This program may only be pursued on a part-time basis.


This program requires intensive supervised clinical experiences for one semester in accredited elementary or secondary school.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • A minimum 3.00 GPA on a 4.00 scale in baccalaureate study
  • Goals statement
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended
  • Two recommendation forms
  • Current resume
